Michelle is an engineer and researcher who has focused on pregnancy and women’s health for over twenty-five years. Her work spans tissue biomechanics, biomimetic materials, data science analytics, and engineering approaches to preventing, diagnosing, and treating preterm birth.

Current projects include modeling how the placenta transports nutrients, using machine learning and data science analytics to analyze clinical ultrasound scans, and developing digital twins of pregnancy to better understand risks and improve care.
